If only...

‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times …’ What an amazing opening of the book 'Tale of two cities' by Charles Dickens . Can good and bad exist at the same time? How can something be the most beautiful yet really ugly? Something which you hate but still love (truly, madly, deeply)...Something so wrong yet so right... Something so close yet 1000 miles apart... Something so serene yet so turbulent...

May be, some questions are supposed to be unanswered. Reality is far different than perception. The fact about existence of millions colours cannot be falsified just because the same is not visible to the human eyes. What we see is just a small fragment of our imagination. The setting of the sun can be seen as fallen hopes and a dying day but can also be visualised as a beginning of something completely new. What is considered as wrong might in fact be the best thing that can ever happen to us. What one could have perceived as endless pain, suffering and misery was perceived as endless love and affection by Mother Teresa, and that is what made all the difference.

Life would have been completely different if we had no prejudices, no pre-conceived notions and our minds were free of judgements. If only we could love without rationalising the same. If only we could look through the most difficult situation with a bit of hope and belief that ‘it would pass’. If only we could take ourselves for what we are and not be so hard on ourselves. If only we could accept people with their flaws. If only we could say ‘shit happens to everyone coz it’s life’ and move on. If only we could forgive people and free our heart of hatred. If only we could stop reasoning every thing in life and keep the logic aside.  If only we could leave things to be unanswered and able to accept the good and bad at the same time.

  1. If I may, I would like to dare to read Mr. Dickens' famous opening lines as - Best of times may appear to be the worst of times, but only in retrospect, and equally true is the vice versa - Worst of times may turn out to be best of times, again in retrospect. One's character is defined by how one cherishes the best and handles the worst of times, whatever may the sequence be :)
