To speak or not to speak!
After completing one of the toughest assignments at work recently, I was convinced that I needed a break. I informed my managers (not one, not two but three!) and booked my tickets to Kathmandu. The harsh reality about travelling from Bangalore to Ktm is that there’s no direct flight for the same (Air Asia, are you listening??) I was on the Blr- Del flight and placed in seat 21F, busy detangling my earphones when I see an amazingly good looking guy walk in. He looked like someone who just stepped down from heaven. I was instantly captivated by his fluoridated teeth and flowing hair (I seriously don’t know where the breeze came from). Yes, he certainly did have the looks to kill. He stopped at 20D and looked at me (I think he did). In the pursuit of not acting all super excited and desperate, I pretended not seeing him at all. Gosh! He looked amazing. After taking a few glimpses of him during the flight (I was not staring), the plane landed at IGI and I got down with a heavy heart.
Life
works in a mysterious way- when you least expect things to happen, they
do happen! At the boarding gate to Ktm, I saw the guy again. I wanted to sing
Pharrell William’s “Happy’ and clap my hands but instead gave him a ‘I have never
seen you look’. To avoid further embarrassment (and hunger), I thought to take
a quick bite and went to a coffee stall. Suddenly, I hear a voice say ' Hey, you travelling to Ktm?' My heart started spinning and my heart was beating
faster than ever. (It’s proven time and again, hunger and love is a bad combo!). I see the guy standing right next to me at the counter and smiling at me.
Heart: OMG, I ca't handle it! I am beating at 200+
Brain: Shut up! Act
normal!!
Me: ‘Hey, yes I am.
What about you?’
Guy: ‘Yes, I am going
to my hometown’
Heart: Did he just say
that he is from Kathmandu..way to go girl! Guys from Nepal are hot! Told ya!!
Brain: Have a calm
face..don’t giggle!
Me: ‘Ohh..thats
nice..even I am from Kathmandu’
Guy: Wow.. what a nice
co-incidence!
Heart: OMG..can you
see the tattoo in his hand..It’s just too cool!
Brain: It’s ok! My
tattoo is much better! Dragon and fire, what does that even mean- Mario??
Me: So, what do you do
in Banaglore?
Guy: I just completed
my Masters. What about you?
Heart: Aww! That’s
cute!!
Brain: Just completed!
He is a kid !!
Me: I work in
Bangalore. How was college?
Guy: Jhyau!! I was
super bored in Bangalore. I so wanted to quit.
Heart: Poor you!
Brain: What! You
wanted to quit..are you saying that u are a quitter?
Me: Why? Bangalore is
super interesting and I bet college life must have been fun
Guy: It’s no fun. They
make u work so hard. I didn’t like anything.
(And then the guy talked
or should I say complained for the next 15 mins about how much he hate studying,
poor services which flights offer, traffic problem in Bangalore, electricity
problem in Kathmandu, how bad his coffee tasted and etc etc)
In the meantime…
Heart: What’s
happening!!!
Brain: I need an
escape plan, too many sad stories for a single day!
Heart: May be he is in
a bad place now, don’t be too judgmental!
Brain: How can someone
be so pessimistic in life!
Heart: Can’t you just
shut your ears and open your eyes
Brain: I wish I could
do that! But, I can’t take it no more!!
Me: Sorry, to
interrupt, but I think we should head towards the gate now
Guy: Yes! Let’s do
that. Btw, what’s your seat number?
Me: 2B.You?
Heart: Say 2A/2C
Brain: Please don’t!!
Guy: 13C
Brain: Thank god!!
Heart, you are done for the day. I am listening to you no more.
I never saw him again. Had he not spoken, I would have probably written a blog about my belief on serendipity. Why did he have to open his mouth and let the dementors out?? Call me mean but some people should never open their mouth. If we don’t have anything good to say and we are gonna talk and act miserable, it’s better to hold peace and remain silent. We speak our thoughts and vice versa. By watching our words, we can keep a check on our thoughts. Life’s too short to be sad and pessimistic. Time for some introspection now- To speak or not to speak!
